Plug-In Solar Kits for Homes, Renters and Apartments

On Demand Instant Solar plug-in solar kits provide a simpler, more flexible way to generate solar power without installing a traditional rooftop solar system. Each kit includes the solar panels, panel stands, microinverter equipment, connecting cables and system components needed to begin producing electricity for your home. Available system sizes range from smaller 800-watt kits to larger, expandable plug-and-play solar systems.

The solar panels connect to the included microinverter, which converts the panels’ DC electricity into standard 120-volt AC power. The system then connects to a compatible household outlet, allowing the solar electricity to help power appliances and other electrical loads operating inside the home. A Smart Power Meter provides monitoring and export control and should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Because the panels are portable, they can be placed in many locations where they receive strong sunlight. Common options include balconies, patios, decks, backyards, carports, sheds, fences and flat-roof areas. The panels do not have to be permanently mounted, making plug-in solar especially useful for renters, condominium owners, homeowners with shaded roofs and customers who want a system they can expand or relocate.

Choosing the right wattage depends on your available space, daytime electricity usage and energy-saving goals. An 800-watt or 1200-watt kit may be appropriate for reducing smaller daytime loads, while 1600-watt and 2000-watt systems can produce more electricity for homes with higher daytime consumption. Additional systems may also be used where the property and electrical configuration allow.

Zero-export control monitors electricity usage and adjusts solar production to help prevent excess power from being sent back to the utility grid. Instead, the system is designed to produce power that can be used inside the home.

Compatible solar batteries can also be added to store energy for later use, including evenings and periods of lower sunlight. Customers interested in powering larger loads, adding battery storage, using multiple inverters or selecting the correct system size should schedule a consultation before ordering.
